Quran Recitation
One meaning of Holy Quran is "recitation"
which means that the Holy Quran should be recited slowly and
in rhythmic tone. The Holy Quran itself outlines the general
method of how it is to be recited, slowly and in rhythmic
tones. Recitation of the Holy
Quran should be done according to rules of pronunciation
established by Holy Prophet (PBUH). There are several schools
of Quranic recitation, all
of which teach possible pronunciations of the Uthmanic rasm.
There are seven (7) Mutawatir and three (3) Mashhur ways of
Quran Recitation.
Mutawalatir
1-Nafi' 2- Ibn Kathir 3- Abu 'Amr ibn al-'Ala'
4- Ibn 'Amir 5- Asim 6-Hamza 7-
al-Kisa'i
Mashhur
1- Abu Ja'far 2- Ya'qub 3- Khalaf
However, the most common is Hafs on the authority of 'Asim,
which have been used all over the world of Islam. 'Qari' is
the person who recites the
Holy Quran with proper
rules of recitation. A Qari does not necessarily have to
memorize the Holy quran but just to recite it with proper
rules recitation.
